Julie Barron has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology & Music Therapy from Naropa University. Julie has had a private practice since 2004. She began her music therapy career with an internship & practicum at Children's Hospital Denver. To become a Licensed Professional Counselor Julie practiced under the supervision of Betty Canon, Ph.D. at the Boulder Psychotherapy Institute.
For many years Julie worked as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado. She worked for Boulder Valley School District FAST, TEENS, Inc Youth & Family Center, The Colorado Institute of Developmental Pediatrics - Adam's Camp , Chinook West Alternative High School, and others. Julie was also very fortunate to train at The Love & Logic Institute, and she continues to facilitate the Love and Logic Parenting Program to this day.
In addition to work, Julie loves hiking, spending time with friends/family, & playing music. She plays in several local music groups. When young, Julie was fortunate to study flute with Ervin Monroe Principal Flute of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (now retired). Julie also is passionate about traditional West African music and dance and studied with teachers Djeneba Sacko and Abdoul Doumbia (and others).
Currently, Julie is offering Transpersonal Counseling, Music Therapy, Addiction Harm Reduction Therapy, Psychedelic Integration, Medical Marijuana Counseling, Parenting Education, and Family Advocacy in SE Michigan. Julie is very thankful for all of her teachers (mentioned and unmentioned), her training, and her life experience that culminate in this work.
